Attention and Will

Attention and Will

French Philosopher Simone Weil wrote:

Attention, taken to its highest degree, is the same thing as prayer. It presupposes faith and love. Absolute undivided attention is prayer.
It's a radical thought. What if prayer isn't only a whispered ritual or a declined line, but something deeper, more invisible- our dedicated, unflinching attention!

The Sacred Art of Undivided Attention

In a world that constantly competes for our focus- phones buzzing, feeds scrolling, deadlines looming-

there exists a quietly powerful act that almost feels rebellious: undivided attention.

When we give our whole attention to something- truly, without distraction- we are offering the most

sacred part of ourselves: our presence.

To Pay attention is to say You matter. This moment matters. I am here.

Sit with something today without purpose. Look, listen, receive.

No fixing. No judging. Just full attention.

In a distracted world, let us become people of prayer- not merely in word, but in the reverent, radical practice of attention.
