Living Your Own

Living Your Own

"You must not ever stop being whimsical.

And you must not ever give anyone else the responsibility for your life."

- Mary Oliver

There's a quiet kind of magic in these words- a reminder from poet Mary Oliver that life, though often

serious, must also be space for lightness, wonder, and personal agency.

The Importance of Whimsy

Whimsical is not foolishness. It is freedom.

It is choosing to dance barefoot on your balcony just because the sunset feels like music.

It is pausing in the middle of a long day to talk to a stray cat, or choosing mismatched socks simply

because they make you smile.

To be whimsical is not reckless- it is to be awake. Awake to joy, awake to possibility, awake to the small

surprises that make a life feel lived rather than endured.

Owning you story

This is not about isolation or rejecting guidance. It is about authorship. Your life is your own novel, and

though others may influence the plot, you alone must hold the pen.

It's tempting to lean on others to tell us who we should be. But no one else has lived your days. No one

else has carries your sorrows or lit up with your joys. So why let someone else define your direction?

So go ahead- buy yourself flowers on a Tuesday, start that project no one else understands, say no without guilt, or yes without explanation.
In the end, that's what makes a life meaningful:

Whimsy in your spirit, and your hands on the wheel.
